Steve is Musical Director of the choir, he has been involved with the choir since its formation in 2007.  He graduated from Surrey University in 1993 with a degree in Music and Sound Recording and works as a composer and sound designer in the video games industry, working on many high profile games and movie licences.






 SophieSophie Young

Sophie is the accompanist for the adult choir, who also plays sax & flute, which are often incorporated into the concerts.  She divides her time between teaching, examining and performing.  She works for the Rock & Pop panel as an examiner for Trinity College London, and performs with many artists including P J Proby and Marc Almond, which includes extensive travelling across the globe.  She is also involved in a new theatre show celebrating the music of Kate Bush and has a book deal on the table with a working title of ‘How to Improvise on the Saxophone’.





JoshJosh Short

Josh accompanies our youth choir. Josh is year 9 at QEGS and has been playing piano for 7 years and trumpet for the last 2 years. He is an experienced choral singer. Josh’s particular interest lies with Jazz music and he performs regularly with Hot House Jazz and the Bill Bailey Band and has even toured in New Orleans last year.

Michael is Organist and Director of Music at St Oswald’s Church in Ashbourne. Before that he held a similar position at St Matthew’s Church in Darley Abbey. He was Head Teacher at Turnditch C. E. (Aided) Primary School for 28 years. He is well known for promoting a love of music, especially singing, throughout the Ashbourne area.
