Ashbourne Singers Adult Choir

Joining the Adult Choir

The Ashbourne Singers is a community choir that exists for the benefit of members of the public with an interest in singing and who wish to do so in a friendly group.  It is open to all over the age of 18 years.

We meet every Tuesday from 7.30– 9.00 pm in St John’s Church, Ashbourne or the Methodist Church, Ashbourne during school term times.  There are no auditions and all abilities are welcome but singers must be able to hold a tune. If you are unsure what your voice type is, you can talk to Steve Duckworth after rehearsal..

It does help if you can read a little music as we do use sheet music for our rehearsals and concerts, but this is not essential.  We experiment with different styles of music and are open to suggestions as to what you might like to sing.

What is involved in being a member?

New members can join the choir during the first three weeks of each term; September, January and after the Easter break. This gives potential new members three opportunities to join.

We would like members to make every effort to attend rehearsals but appreciate that family or other commitments sometimes get in the way.

Currently, the fee per term is £45.00 which is paid on the first week of the term.  This ensures we can cover our costs and purchase music.  However, for new members the first week is always free so you can decide whether or not you would like to come back.  There is also a one-off £20 music deposit which is returnable if you leave the choir.  As well as rehearsals, public and private performances; we also hold social events.
